This week’s hip hop jazz composition is entitled, “Putting on the RIFF!” The word “RIFF;” is an acronym that means, RADIO INDIE FREE FORM, and means that the radio station that is playing music is using a free form format made up of Independent artists. I am an independent artist, as are other familiar artists, such as Ingrid Smith, Tiffany Gow, James Harrison Bacon, and many others who are now frequently heard on the Internet stations hosted by Dawn Martinez and by Philippe E. Maille.
However, Dawn Martinez has specifically dedicated her new station to encompass more than just the music. During a recent interview, she told us about her station:
“RIFF—A Solar Powered Internet Radio Station that streams the glitz and glamour of Independent Indie Artists Internationally. RIFF’s mission is to promote, broadcast, educate, and build fan base for the artists of the Indie rhythmic beat, while using fewer commercials. Over thirty genre’s garnish the Internet Airwaves as Independent Music expresses itself freely. Radio Indie FreeForm is a non-profit organization blending together with Ahames.org Charity, and like-minded people.”
Thank you, Dawn for such a super concept! So, in honor of the RIFF movement, I give you, “Putting on the RIFF!” I arranged, mixed and play Alto Sax, and the Passion HiFi provided the backing.
Have a listen to Putting On The RIFF by Jack Scannell where the marvelous artist showcases his snazzy music.
